New violence broke out in northern Kosovo on Monday, with scores of people, including two soldiers, injured, as NATO troops stationed in Kosovo (KFOR) removed road blocks set up by local Serbs in the village of Jagnjenica.

A German NATO officer and a soldier were shot and wounded and about 23 Austrian and German peacekeepers injured in clashes with protesting Serbs in northern Kosovo on Monday after NATO troops used heavy machinery to remove trucks and buses blocking a main road, an official said.
“During the operation, demonstrators used small caliber weapons and wounded two KFOR soldier,” NATO said in a statement. It confirmed that KFOR resorted to “limited use of rubber bullets and tear gas” and water cannons to disperse the protesting Serbs.
NATO spokesman Dan Harvey told media KFOR was ordered to use live ammunition if it was attacked again.
Borivoje Jaksic, director of health clinic in northern town of Zubin Potok between 30 and 50 Serbs were treated for injuries from bullet wounds. “Some were bleeding and others were in shock,” he said.
The violence near the town of Zubin Potok comes after months of tensions following a decision by the government to extend its authority in areas under de facto Serb rule.
