Obviously, few MPs believe Edita Tahiri’s statement that with the Integrated Border Management (IBM) agreement, Serbia has recognised state borders between Kosovo and Serbia.
by Vedat Xhymshiti – Pristina, KOSOVO / Monday, December 12, 2011
The opposition political parties keep opposing the IBM agreement, considering that its implementation is impossible as long as Serbia does not recognize Kosovo borders. In addition, MPs said that they know little about the content of the agreement.
Rexhep Selimi of Vetëvendosje said that the agreement should be qualified as a bilateral one, which ought to be ratified by the Assembly of Kosovo.
On the other hand, Burim Ramadani of AAK believes that in case the agreement would be submitted to the Assembly, it would not get the necessary votes. According to Ramadani, what is happening is an extreme deception against the public, and that the agreement is harmful for Kosovo.
By this agreement, borders would be managed by the Kosovo and EULEX customs officers, as well as by Serbian ones. However, so far even the EULEX Mission has little knowledge about is role.
